Our upvc repairs division opened in 2010 as a seperate division from our manufacturing and installing arms, as previously upvc window repairs and upvc door repairs were carried out by the installations teams, however with our ever growing repairs business taking off in its own right as we now have many main insurers on board with us and many have appointed us as specialist contractors.
Specialising in double glazing and conservatory repairs, we pride ourselves in providing a high standard of service which is both cost effective and reliable.
Catering for both domestic and commercial customers, over the years we have built up a loyal customer base. These include Uk main Insurers, councils, schools, housing associations, nursing homes and hospitals and over 30,000 loyal domestic customers (references available).
Any job large or small is carried out with the same care and attention. All parts supplied come with a full manufacturer’s warranty.
If you cannot see the service you require, please contact us and we will endeavour to help you.
If a double glazed sealed unit has gone misty inside the seal on the glass has died, and moisture is getting inside and between the two panes of glass, the glass unit cannot be repaired although it can be replaced without removing the whole window this type of damage normally appears in the springtime after a hard winter.
As temperatures change moisture will turn into liquid, which cannot escape. When sealed units are manufactured they are not designed to be taken apart again, hence when it has failed it will need replacing.
The most common cause of sealed unit failure is due to the unit not being sealed correctly during manufacture or indeed old age and occassionally impact damage. If a unit is not fully sealed all the way round, the unit is likely to fail within a relatively short time scale, and this will be normally within a year or so.
We can replace sealed units of any age and type.
Clyde also provide the full range of replacement windows including aluminium, uPVC, wooden and upvc sliding sash at very economical prices. Replacing old windows with new A + rated double glazing can have a massive effect on your heating bill and make your home more secure.
Ever popular, tilt-and-turn windows can be opened inwards from the top allowing you to ventilate your home effectively or from the side for easy cleaning from within your home along with this great design comes many moving parts which can break through wear and tear and often require UPVC replacement parts to get them back into correct working order.
The Tilt-and-Turn window is extremely secure and ideal for accessible windows or where ventilation is needed while maintaining security. It can also be used as an effective fire escape.
Velux windows are also in need of repair work frequently as they are very popular windows in the UK and have many moving parts also many people have velux windows which are 20 years old or more therefore the glass units would normally be misted over this period of time.

As standard the maximum width for a pair of double French doors is said to be 5ft wide. One or two manufacturers make doors up to 6ft without any problems, but most are not strong enough to go over 5ft.
French doors are heavy and should have a restrictor fitted to prevent the wind straining the hinges, plus the wider the doors the more quickly the wheels will wear out unless you have stainless steel wheels and track on your patio doors. If you develop problems with your patio or French doors call us for sound, professional advice.
Abbey Repairs can repair faults to all types of doors including leaks, draughts and frames not closing properly. We can repair or replace door fittings including handles, hinges, letterboxes, trickle vents and can provide replacement locks and keys.
Additionally, If you require security upgrades, new locks or repairs to existing locking mechanisms, we offer a wide range of high security products including multi point locks and hook bolts.
Wooden doors can split, warp, swell and stick--especially when exposed to the elements and temperature fluctuation.
Additionally, doors that are in constant use can become loose requiring periodic repairs.
Cosmetic damage such as splits or cracks can be easily remedied but if a door is misshaped or warped by the elements, it might not lock or latch properly and is likely to let in drafts.
Unfortunately we do not carry out repairs to timber doors as we cannot supply any form of guarantee with this type of work and in our experience timber doors are normally replaced with Upvc or composite doors.
